Hawthorne House ABI
In June 2017 we opened the doors to our brand new purpose-built Acquired Brain Injury care unit on Broad Lane in Coventry. The facility supports the rehabilitation of adult men diagnosed with ABI and facing a variety of cognitive and functional disabilities as a result of a head trauma.
This facility is equipped to support patients to relearn skills, or adapt to new ways of completing tasks such as dressing or cooking to promote independent daily living.
Patients each have their own private fully equipped bedrooms, complete with en-suite bathroom, TV, table and chairs and views overlooking our secure gardens.
Relatives are made very welcome and where possible, are involved in therapy sessions around developing coping strategies to manage the change in physical ability and personality often associated with brain injury.
Service users can enjoy regular films and Netflix screenings in our cinema room and have access to our communal café on the ground floor of the hospital.
The site offers a wide range of social and educational opportunities in the local community and will be particularly suited to patients who wish to access education and employment rehabilitation. Herewood College in Coventry provides training for people with disabilities and additional needs and is only a few minutes’ walk from our site.
