Specialist Adult Mental Health and Social Care
At St Matthews Healthcare we offer a range of mental health care, rehabilitation, step-down care and integrated care pathways across hospitals, community-based MDT units and specialist mental health care homes.
Our specialist, high dependancy care, and rehabilitation services across 10 facilities in the Midlands and East Sussex includes:
- hospital wards for patients who have been detained under the Mental Health Act
- chronic mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, and other affective, psychotic and organic disorders
- specialist care for adults with enduring mental health problems
- offending behaviour in context of mental illness
- acquired brain injury
- young onset dementia, dementia in older people and alcohol-related dementia
- neuro-degenerative conditions like Huntington’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis care
- residential nursing care for older people with behaviours that challenge

Started in 1995 by Sean Sidhu-Brar and Rani Sandhu, a husband-and-wife team. This Northampton family business thrived with employees being a central part of the SMHC family while delivering high quality, compassionate care.
From a single care home, we’ve grown to an extended family of 10 specialist adult mental health and social care settings in the Midlands and East Sussex. Offering in-patient hospital services, community-based MDT rehabilitation units and nursing care homes.

Our programmes combine mental health therapies with coping strategies and daily living skills. Our inpatient hospital services have well established in-house multidisciplinary teams including primary care service whereas our care homes have excellent links with a wide range of community health professionals to meet the need of our service users.
In addition to providing dementia care, care for those with Huntington’s disease, and respite care for people with young onset dementia, we also provide specialist nursing care for adults with specialist mental health needs and behaviours that challenge.
